DUNCAN, OK (TNN) – The Cameron University Sports and Exercise Science Department got a boost from the community Monday with a golf tournament fundraiser. About 18 teams took part in the fundraiser, which aims to get money to buy new equipment for the Sports and Exercise Science department. This is the third year to hold the tournament, but the first year it was at The Territory Golf Course in Duncan. Tyson Chambers says it’s essential to bring in extra money so they can continue to provide equipment not only to their players but also to the community. “We have a lot of students involved, more community involvement in our department, so it’s important for us to reach out and help the community,” said Tyson Chambers, the instructor from Cameron University’s Sports and Exercise Department. Community members from Duncan and Lawton participated, and the top players earned money along with decorated mugs. They received around $2,000 through Monday’s fundraiser.
